Planning, DCMA and earned value terms as this app uses them.
Terms as this app uses them.
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| AC (ACWP) | Actual cost of work performed: what the work done so far cost. |
| AT | Actual time: working days from the start to the data date. |
| BAC | Budget at completion: the total budget of the work. |
| Baseline | A saved version of the programme to measure against. Where the export carries none, P6's planned dates stand in. |
| BEI | Baseline execution index: activities completed ÷ activities planned to be complete by the data date. |
| Calendar | The working days and hours an activity works to. Each activity advances on its own calendar. |
| CPI | Cost performance index: EV ÷ AC. Below 1.0 is over budget. |
| CPLI | Critical path length index: (critical path length + total float) ÷ critical path length. |
| Critical path | The longest chain of logic to completion; a delay on it delays the finish. |
| Data date | The date progress was measured to. Actuals are before it; remaining work after it. |
| DCMA 14-point | A standard set of schedule quality checks, originally from the US Defense Contract Management Agency. |
| Dangling logic | An activity's start or finish that nothing controls, such as an SS-only successor with no finish tie. |
| EAC | Estimate at completion: BAC ÷ CPI. |
| Earned Schedule (ES) | The date by which today's earned value should have been earned, in working days from the start. |
| EV (BCWP) | Earned value: budget × percent complete. |
| F9 | P6's schedule command, which recalculates dates and float from the data date. |
| Free float | How far an activity can slip without delaying any successor. |
| Hard constraint | A constraint that fixes or caps a date: Mandatory, Start/Finish On, Start/Finish On or Before. |
| Hit rate | Of the work an update said would finish before the next data date, the share that did. |
| Key Date | An NEC4 date by which the Contractor meets a stated condition. |
| Lag / lead | A wait on a relationship. A lead is a negative lag. |
| LOE | Level of effort: an activity whose dates follow the work it spans. |
| Negative float | The plan can't meet a date it's held to. |
| Not statused | Open work whose dates are already past without actuals. |
| Open end | An activity missing a predecessor or a successor. |
| Out of sequence | Progress recorded on an activity before its logic allowed it to start. |
| P-date (P50, P80) | The finish date a risk simulation met in that percentage of runs. |
| PV (BCWS) | Planned value: budget due by the data date on the planned dates. |
| QSRA | Quantitative schedule risk analysis: a Monte Carlo simulation of the finish. |
| Retained Logic | P6 option keeping remaining work behind its unfinished predecessors. |
| Slippage rate | Days the forecast finish moved per day elapsed between updates. |
| SPI / SPI(t) | Schedule performance index, by cost (EV ÷ PV) and by time (ES ÷ AT). |
| Terminal float | Under NEC4, the time between planned Completion and the Completion Date. |
| Total float | How far an activity can slip without delaying the finish or a constrained date. |
| TCPI | To-complete performance index: the efficiency the rest must achieve to meet budget. |
| Time risk allowance | Under NEC4, time the Contractor shows in the programme for risk. |
| XER | Primavera P6's native export format. P6 XML is the other supported export. |
